Bacon Flavored Ham Steak

Ever cook a piece of ham steak and when you were done took a bite and said, this could use more flavor? Well, why not jazz it up a bit? Whether you pan fry it, cook it under the broiler, on the grill or in the oven, seasoning your ham steak with hickory flavored bacon salt will increase the flavor factor tenfold. A very easy way to prepare a ham steak with bacon salt is to cook it in the oven. This way it will be very juicy and the bacon flavored salt will have time to work itself into the meat.

First preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Then take an appropriate size of heavy-duty aluminum foil and place the ham steak on it. Make sure that the aluminum foil is large enough to completely seal up the ham steak. With the ham steak on the aluminum foil, sprinkle some bacon salt on one side. Not too much, you want the bacon flavoring to enhance the ham not overwhelm it! You can always experiment and add more the next time. Now flip it over and put some bacon salt on the other side. Completely seal the aluminum foil making sure that the folded edge is at the top. This will keep the juice inside the aluminum foil, flavoring the ham even more, and making cleanup a snap.

Once the oven has reached 300 degrees, place the ham steak in a shallow pan on the middle oven rack for about 40 minutes or until the ham reaches 148 degrees. Forty minutes may seem like a long time for ham steak, but it is important that it be cooked all the way through. Don’t worry, it’s going to be incredibly juicy with bacon flavor when you take it out of the oven. Enjoy!

Burned popcorn in a microwave.

If you make the mistake of leaving your popcorn in the microwave too long, inevitably it is going to burn. An easy way to remove that nasty popcorn odor is to unplug the microwave and stuff it full of newspaper overnight. Crunch up the newspaper into giant balls to create more surface area. When you remove the newspaper, the odor in the microwave will be gone.
