Need to find the percentage of a number quickly? The Google search box has a built-in math calculator that uses numbers and text. For example, if you need to know what 31% of $157 is, you can actually type it in a Google search. This would be the actual search, 31% of $157 equals. Google would return the following information: 31% of (US$ 157) = 48.67 U.S. dollars. You can also enter that same search like this, $157 X 31% = and get the same answer.

Here is an example of multiplication using the Google search box, 51 times 12 equals, Google returns the following: 51 times 12 = 612. Or you could find the answer with the following Google search, 51 x 12 = and get the same answer.

Not surprisingly, the Google search box can do addition. Here is an example: 27 plus 41 plus 36 plus 19 equals. Google returns the following: (27 plus 41) plus 36) plus 19 = 123. You can also enter the search like this, 27 + 41 + 36 + 19 = to get the same answer, 123.

Use the Google search box for division, 100 divided by five equals, and Google returns the following result: 100 divided by five = 20. If the formula is entered like this, 100 / 20 = Google will also return the same answer.

Currency conversion, no problem for Google. If you would like to know how much $127 is in Mexican pesos for example, you can enter the following Google search: $127 into pesos. Google returns the following result: US$ 127 = 1,607.63564 Mexican pesos. Google can also do foreign currency conversions into US dollars. For example, enter the following in the Google search box, 525 pesos in USD, and Google returns the following: 525 Mexican pesos = 41.4741 US dollars. Google does say that it uses foreign currency rates provided by Citibank N.A., and that Google cannot guarantee the accuracy of the exchange rates used by the calculator, so use caution.

Need to convert centimeters to inches? You could enter it like this, 10.5 cm in inches, Google returns the following: 10.5 centimeters = 4.13385827 inches.

Convert kilometers to miles, no problem. If you have to travel 151 km, and would like to know how many miles that is, enter the following into the Google search box: 151 km in miles. Google will do the conversion and return the following information: 151 kilometers = 93.82705 miles.

What time is it?
Lost your watch and need to know what time it is? Ask Google, what time is it now. Google will return the current time at your location. If you need to know the current time someplace else, you can also ask Google. For example, you could enter the following search: current time San Francisco.

What is the population?

If you would like to know the population of a state, or country, once again our friends at Google come to the rescue. If you are doing a school project and need to know the population of China, you can enter the following Google search: Population China. Google will return the latest available population statistics. If you would like to know the population of Alaska, ask Google the following: Population Alaska.

Track packages.

The Google search box can also track packages from UPS, FedEx, and the United States Post Office. All you need to do is enter the tracking number into the Google search box. You do not need to identify the carrier such as UPS, FedEx or the post office. Enter the tracking number in the Google search box and click search. Google will then ask you if you would like to track the following package, click the link to see the same information you would find by going to the UPS, FedEx or United States Post Office website.

Need a quick weather report?

Enter the word weather along with the zip code, or location of the weather you would like to check. For example, you could put the following into a Google search: weather Chicago. Google will instantly return the current weather conditions, and a four-day forecast.

Now for the coolest Google trick of all, Google gravity.

Enter the words Google gravity in the search box, and then click on, I'm Feeling Lucky. If you are unable to access the, I'm Feeling Lucky Button, click on the very top link. Then take your hands off the mouse and keyboard and watch what happens. It may take a few seconds, but everything on your computer screen will fall to the bottom. If it does not, click your mouse anywhere on the page. When gravity takes hold, you'll notice that the Google search box is now down at the bottom of the screen, but it still works! Do a Google search, but do not click on the button I'm feeling lucky. Click on the Google search button and watch what happens. Once Google returns the search results you can click the items on the page and move them around. You can also do another search and watch everything pile up.

Sometimes when Google does the auto fill of the search box, it is difficult to click on the search, or I'm feeling lucky button. If that is the case, you can click the following link to open up a new page in your browser to, Google Gravity
